Throughout their history, LSU has produced many great receivers that have made an impact at the professional level. Guys such as Dwayne Bowe, Michael Clayton, Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry started to path the way of LSU receivers that produced in the NFL.
The past couple of years, the NFL has seen guys like Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas continue the tradition. In this upcoming draft, LSU has the ability to produce another receiver like that in Kyren Lacy.
Standing at 6’2″ and 213 lbs, Kyren started off as a 3 star prospect playing for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. After two seasons with the Cajuns, he transferred to play for Coach Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers. Last season playing with two first round picks at receiver, he had 30 receptions for 558 yards and 7 touchdowns.
This season, Lacy has become the number one receiver for the Tigers. Being one of Garrett Nussmeier’s top targets, he has 25 receptions for 352 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Kyren Lacy’s Strengths
Kyren Lacy is a great yards-after-the-catch receiver. He gets extra yards through vision or physicality. He has great body control when catching the ball either on the sidelines or in the red zone.
Kyren Lacy shows versatility lining up both outside and in the slot. He has great separation due to great footwork and solid hand-fighting techniques. He has a good release on his routes, letting him get great separation on routes. He can track the ball well and use his body control to his advantage.
Kyren Lacy’s Weaknesses
While he has a lot of good, there are areas where he can improve on. His hands needs improvement, as he drops the ball a good amount (9.1% drop rate). He isn’t known as a great blocker, so in order to help his effectiveness, he needs to work on blocking.
While he runs a 4.52 40 yard dash, he has average long speed which doesn’t help him on deep balls. Kyren is also a first time WR1 so that’s something to keep on as the season progresses.
Draft Projection
I believe Kyren Lacy is one of the best WR prospects in this upcoming draft class. He has versatility in both the slot and outside. He is great with YAC and does a great job tracking the ball. While he has a couple of things that he can work on, I believe he will progress in those areas.
I believe Kyren Lacy is a Day 2 prospect who can sneak into the backhalf of the 1st round like Ricky Pearsall did in the 2024 draft. Teams I see Lacy fit with: Miami Dolphins, Green Bay Packers, Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers.
