Nick Singleton has become a valuable member of the Penn State backfield. Now in his junior year, the veteran running back was a 5-star recruit from Reading, PA. Singleton was the number one running back in the class of 2022.
Singleton rushed for a total of 1,813 yards, 20 rushing touchdowns, and 3 receiving touchdowns in his past two seasons at Penn State.
So far this season he already has 2 receiving touchdowns and 3 rushing touchdowns in 4 games. Penn State’s offense is starting to utilize this explosive back as more of a receiving back, targeting Singleton more and more in the open field yet also giving him plenty of carries on the ground.
With Penn State’s powerful offensive line, Singleton is on track to produce high numbers in all stat lines for the 2024 season. The depth of Penn State’s Offensive line gives Singleton all the right tools to be a strong asset for the Penn State offensive attack.

Nick Singleton’s Strengths:
Singleton runs like a bull in a china shop. One of the most powerful running backs I have seen. Singleton runs with great power and has the ability to run through defenders that are in his way. Singleton is unstoppable when his O-line gives him a hole to hit he explodes through the gaps.
Not only is Singleton a violent runner but when he gets daylight in the open field he can turn on the jets and has amazing speed that helps him produce breakaway runs.
Singleton runs with aggression and is always fighting for the extra yard no matter what. When defenders wrap up on Singleton he will usually break off one or two before being pulled down. Singleton is rarely ever brought down by a single defender, especially in the open field. His speed and explosiveness are extremely impressive. As soon as his hands touch the ball he explodes upfield.
Singleton paired with the elite interior offensive line of Penn State is extremely dangerous for defenses. Singleton fits so well with the offensive scheme that Penn State has of power running up the middle because he is so explosive and works amazingly well with his O-line to get him yards well beyond the line of scrimmage.
Nick Singleton’s Weaknesses:
Singleton has a few weaknesses that could hurt him as a prospect. Singleton lacks the elusive running style that could be utilized with his speed. Rarely makes one move jukes to create space that could help him gain extra yards.
Draft projection:
Singleton has the ability to be a solid back in the NFL with his size and speed. I project him to be an early-round grab, most likely a third-round pick. Teams will be looking at his elite explosiveness and grit which can make him a well-oiled machine for any power running offense.
NFL teams with a playbook that fits the hard-nose-on-the-ground running playstyle would be happy to add a back like Singleton who not only has the ability to produce yards on the ground but also to become a great receiving back for any flexible RB depth chart
