Athleticism off the EDGE is the new wave for NFL defenses and Princely Umanmielen brings that for this Ole Miss defense.
Princely Umanmielen was a 4 star recruit out of Manor HS in Manor Texas. The 6’4” 250 pound defensive end was tested out of high school with a 34 inch vertical jump and a 5.07 40 yard dash. Committing to the Florida Gators in 2020 the 5th year senior began his career there playing in 6 games his freshman year, tallying a total of 2 sacks. In his sophomore campaign he saw more action getting to start his first game against UCF in the Gasparilla Bowl.
In 2022 he played in all 13 games, earning 4.5 sacks and 9.5 TFLs. In 2023 Umanmielen led the team with 11.5 TFLs and 9.5 sacks throughout 13 starts. Along with dominating on the field he earned SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll 3 times, and an AP All-Sec second team selection.
Umanmielen transferred to Ole Miss in the spring of 2024. He looks to anchor the front 7 and lead Ole Miss to the CFB 12 team playoff.

Princely Umanmielen’s Strengths
Umanmielen is a good athlete off the EDGE, demonstrating good bend and a nice rip move. When rushing from a wide 9 Umanmielen gives OTs and TEs fit with his quick first step. He has long arms and does well pressing out in the run game.
He has a killer spin move that he likes to flash from time to time. Umanmielen earns a good amount of production in the box score and with his pass rush win rate, demonstrating why he has good pass rushing upside at the next level.
Princely Umanmielen’s Weaknesses
Umanmielen has to improve his play strength as he often times gets overwhelmed by double teams. When playing stronger tackles if they get a good form strike in can shit down Umanmielens pass rush plan and then turns into a stalemate.
I’d like to see better effort in the run game from him and for him to become more of a factor in it. Along while being a good athlete Umanmielen has poor long speed and when rushing from a 5T or in he gets neutralized and can’t run around tackles as well. The quick burst off the ball can also be spotty.
Draft Projection
Umanmielen should have no problem being a day two pick. In a weaker EDGE class I hope Umanmielen continues to stick out and earn himself more stock within the class. If a team uses him right he can be an absolute threat at the NFL level rushing wide and working outside of tackles.
I think he fits a couple teams like the: Washington Commanders, Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints and the New York Jets.
