The adopted brother of former Auburn/Oregon QB and current Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix, Tez Johnson is making a name for himself as he is entering his final year of college football.
Transferring to Oregon from Troy to play with his adopted brother, Tez Johnson has turned into one of Oregon’s most reliable wide receivers.
Standing in at 5’10” and 160 lbs, Tez Johnson had 86 receptions for 1182 yards and 10 touchdowns last year. This year, he has 43 receptions for 395 yards and 5 touchdowns for the Ducks.

Tez Johnson’s Strengths
Tez has got great body control for his size, helping his ability to make plays after the catch. He can accelerate quickly, which helps him create separation at his release.
He has great vision looking for ways to get extra yards and not put his team in harm. He is a solid route runner, and mainly lines up in the slot in OC Will Stein’s offense.
He has great vertical speed, and knows when to adjust his route for his quarterback. He does tracks the ball well on downfield shots. He helps his draft stock with being a good returner, having returned a punt for a touchdown against Boise State.
Tez Johnson’s Weaknesses
One weakness of Tez that can cause him to drop is his stature. Even though he has not missed any At 5’10” and 160 lbs, he is at question for durability with the physicality of the NFL.
While he is a willing blocker, his size neutralizes his ability in the blocking game. He struggles in press coverage, with spending too much time trying to fight off the defender at the line of scrimmage.
Draft Projection
I project Tez Johnson as a Day 3 pick that can sneak into the back part of Day 2. His stature raises a lot of questions but there is a lot to like about Tez’s game.
He reminds me of Calvin Austin. I project Tez will mainly be a slot receiver and can be use as a returner in the NFL with the new kickoff rules that can help improve his draft stock. Some teams such as the Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, Atlanta Falcons or Washington Commanders.
