Player Summary:
Edge Rusher; 5th year graduate player. Lines up on both the left and right side to rush the passer. Lines against the right tackle more often. Usually lines up as a 4-technique but sometimes a 5. Thick frame with bulky arms, with decent height and weight. Has a decent get-off and likes to pressure the quarterback through means of a bullrush. Likes to extend his arms, and yank lineman closer to throw them off balance. He doesn’t disengage blockers easily if he allows them to get inside his pads. His overall speed and agility is subpar, and looks uncomfortable running in space. His foot quickness is marginal, and plays decently well on balance. His lateral movement is average, and his strength getting through blockers is decent. As a pass rusher, he is average, with decent acceleration after the snap. As a run defender, he uses his mass to plug holes and plays at a solid pad level after getting off the line. He plays with some violence in his hands. Bites often on play action or RPO’s, below average discipline off the line. He has a decent first punch into a defender’s chest, and is usually the first one to make a hit. Plays with a solid motor and pushes through the whistle a good amount of times. His means of success are almost always through using his mass through a push and pull technique to displace an opponent. Average instincts, with a marginal repertoire of pass rush moves. He is frequently subbed out, and plays in a heavy rotation. His overall tackling is average, lunges at running backs instead of moving his feet to be in a good position.
Scheme Fit:
4/5 T in a 4-2-5 or 4-3
